It is time some one did something to clean the beach up if you expect turists to come and spend money a little more attention and effort should be put into cleaning up the beach its disgusting!angry

Calis has a lovely feel to it, it is fairly laid back with great restaurants & bars.
Mama Mias & Eyna are my faviourite restaurants.
If anyone was thinking of visiting I would say go ahead.
As for the beach - there are over 4km of beach, walk away from the main area, hire a bike & go towards Ciflik - magical, little bays and much quiter. The beach is used by everyone tourist & locals.
Towards the Koca Calis end there is now a beach park being built looked great when we were there, can't wait to go back when it is finished, rumour is that they will house musical entertainment.

Hmmm ... yes, they do seem to have musical entertainment - at least, they certainly do during the day ... so if you are looking for a peaceful day on the beach, move away from the gated off area or you have the choice of their taste in music, or their taste in music! Çalış used to be great - especially first thing in the morning ... anyone who feels that it's lost some of its charm because of all the development, please do say so on this forum!!! Don't get me wrong ... I have nothing against development but no-one should forget that this is Turkey, not a second class Cannes (or Faliraki, for that matter), and that is what people come for!

'devilsadvocate' you seem to want people to say bad things about Calis - why is that?

We visited Calis about 5 years ago and didnt like the beach at all so never went back. It was stony, crowded and felt mucky. As we had a car last summer and were passing Calis early evening we stopped for a drink on the promanade to watch the sunset. It seemed more pleasant and cleaner than I remembered - apart from piles of dog p**p on the promanade, which I must say is a really unusual sight in Turkey!
