Been to Olue Deniz 3 times in last 2 years, first at Blue Lagoon in July 04 (brilliant), then Marcan Beach July 05 (not entirely impressed with hotel staff and inflexibility but everything else gr8) and Alize in Sept 05 for a cheeky week (good, if a bit too busy with the activities but its All Inc. so horses for courses). Loved the resort, its quietness and great restaurants, people, climate, prices etc but get the feeling from what I hear and read that its becoming overly- commercialized in 06 and infested with the BritChav. Is this the case, and if so would anyone recommend Ovacik as an alternative (early version of OD)? No interest in Hisaranu as its just the classic UK abroad resort now. |

Hi Idyllseeker, I dont know what you've been reading about Olu Deniz but we were there the first week of May and there were no major changes. No infestation of BritChav sited! Olu Deniz still has all the charm we all fell in love with. I would never consider Ovacik as an alternative to OD. Personally, I find Ovacik to have very little character. I've never found it to be a 'real' place - just a main road with over spill properties from Hisaronu creeping up the mountainside. But each to their own - personally Hisaronu has everything I want, spectacular views, pool and complete peace when I need it, brilliant restaurants, every convenience and nightlife when I want it! |

Thanks Val. Like you say, each to their own re: Hisaranu. Good news about OD, just read some hotel reviews and got the impression that was the case. Dont have an issue with people staying up late and bars making a certain amount of noise, as its a holiday, but like you love the charm and secluded nature of OD. We shall return this year, wherever

You could try Calis as an alternative, it is on the coast, it has great restuants & bars, it is a little more laid back then Olu Deniz, also if you walk away from Calis towards Koca Calis & Ciflik you get lovely unspoilt beaches & little coves. The beach is not a senic at Olu Deniz, however there is a lovely breeze keeping you call. You could always try a villa or apartment holiday for a change to the hotels. rgs Lorraine |
