We stayed here for 4 nights. We had originally booked for 3 but liked it so much we stayed another day and took a walk to one of the nearby villages. The location is excellent if you like quiet places in the country away from the touristy Fethiye. Nice garden like setting with lots of bird life and fruit trees. We stayed in one of the little cottages which had a fireplace, small fridge, kettle dishes and a hot plate. There were two outdoor pools. The family one is quite large. Lafite who is actually Head of Houskeeping but you find her at the front desk, helping out in the restaurant is a friendly helpful woman who goes out of her way to make sure you have a pleasant stay. You good stay here and use the local dolmuses to get around (its about a 5 minute walk to the road where you catch it but it is better if you have a car). |

We stayed here for the final week of a 2 week self drive tour of the Agean resorts of Turkey. We booked because we liked the idea of a Villa within a complex, therefore giving the best of both worlds; the solitude of your own villa yet the facility of a report ! The resort is an old village that has very sympathetically been converted to a holiday complex. There are both rooms and self catering villa type units. We stayed in a detached version of the latter. The complex is spread over a fair distance, our villa was the furthest away from the bar area and was a good 5 minute stroll. The do cater very well for the less able visitor though so do not less this put you off, they have pool lifts available etc. Location for me was superb. Anyone who knows the area of Fethiye will be aware that you have at least 3 resorts in one around here: Fethiye - traditional Turkish working town with lovely marina Hisaronu - Brits abroad !!! Lights and bass beats all night long Olu Deniz - Backpackers place of old, but still with charm and layed back approach The hotel is located 15 minutes drive out of Fethiye but before you get the the bright lights of Hisaronu. It is the mountains so you benefit from the cooler air and we reckoned on about a 50 minute stroll to the bright lights to work up an appetite. The main road served by hundreds of dolmus is about 10-15 minutes stroll on a quiet flat tarmac road. For us best of both worlds, the peace and quiet if you want it, but also the people watching fun in the evening !!! The village does put on a daytime bus to the beach in Olu but not one in the evenings, presumably to try and keep people in the place to eat, drink and be merry ! The rooms were OK, not luxurious but by Turkish standards average. Always clean, but no proper seats in the living area and the bathroom was disappointingly small. The shower was a wet room type, so no planning on a toilet break for a while after as everything was wet. The previous year we stayed in a room and the bathroom was massive and excellent, so we were really quite disappointed. A/C worked fine, but the extra for the villa was probably not worth it for us to be honest. The communal areas were excellent though. We did not try the breakfast as it was 10 YTL extra each and to be honest we never felt like it. Looking at the spread it was typical Turkish, bread, meats and fresh bread and jams. Food was great and the service impeccable, the lads/blokes who run the restaurant and bar are local to the area and top drawer. The pool areas were immaculate and superb, the village benefitting from an adults only area so any nippers are well away from us grumpies !! Around and about was some super wildlife - I have attached a photo of an owl who I think took a distinct dislike to me and my camera !! Overall a great place to stay in the area for location, with super staff and communal areas. I do think the villas could do better though.

It was very quiet the week we stayed at Ocakkoy but that didn't stop it being a great place for a holiday. A lot of people seem to be put off Turkey this year - plus this place used to be exclusive to Tapestry holidays. Now anybody can book alsom from Koral Travel. The cottages are lovely and very comfortable with beautiful balconies and sitting rooms. Pool is great and everything is spotless. Staff are the friendliest people you could meet. The restaurant was bit souless but maybe that was because so few people were staying there. Anyway, lots of other good places to eat in the area - and the local restaurants will usually give you a lift back after dinner.

This is not our first visit to ocakkoy. It is our third and intend to stay there every year. The staff are efficient and friendly and the standard of cleaning our cottage was very good. Set in peacefull surroundings but near enough to Fethiye by car for shopping spree. We now feel like this is our second home
